I just downloaded the iProntoedit software from the Philips site. I don't see an emulator. Is there one?

did not see one, also the text buttons only give you 4 gray, don't think it is meant to be the final version :-)

If this is the final version of iProntoEdit, they've laid an enormous egg with it. No state variables, no conditional macros, etc. It's one thing to be missing those features in a $200 remote but it's another thing to be missing them in a $1700 remote intended to compete with the Crestons of the world.

Ths software, like all of Philips recent crop is disappointing. The unit is in essence in its current for a big screen Neo with a web browser. Many capabilities we take for granted from the PE 4.05 software are again missing. Biggest flaw....... no ability to hide anything.

I agree, if this is the final version I think I will wait till they at least get the same functionallity as a ProntoPro. Real simple things like the ability to re-assign the hard keys from device to device would be nice. Having a Tivo in my setup makes it real tough to use the program guide since it only supports a single tuner. Not trying to be to critical of something that is just hitting the market, I do expect things will improve with time. Maybe I just expect more from Philips.

I assume that the version of the software that is downloadable is the same one on the disc that I was given. On the disc it clearly states "preliminary" they also stated in the training that this was not the final release. I would agree that there are several ploblems with the current version of the software but I will reserve judgement until I see the final version.

Just got finished with a Philips training the other day, and asked the emulator (and other) questions. Here was the response:

1) No emulator included because the unit is connected via WiFi, and it's faster to load the older prontos, so just load the software into iPronto to test. BTW, the ONLY way to load software into it is via WiFi (NO serial, USB or other cord attachments.)

2) The unit is FAR from being a Crestron-level item. It's designed to bring advanced features to your remote control, but by no means was it meant to be a substitute for a RS-232 based unit. There IS a 'Super Box' coming at the end of the year with RS-232 (and other) add-on functions, but it's still not suppose to take the place of a Crestron where that device's capabilites are needed.

3) You WILL be able to hide devices with the next update. That was an oversight according to Philips.

4) Hard Key reassignment was an intentional design, so they can be used like the fixed volume and channel keys, just with more versatility.

Just my $.02 worth.

I actually can't believe what I'm about to say.

I do not find much exciting about the iPronto. I'll wait and see before I opt for it.

I'm one of the ultimate adult-electronics-toy guys. If I'm finding it hard to get interested, I would beware if I were Philips.

Hey guys,
1. First an emulator on a cross platform product is next to impossible to achieve. Are you going to emulate webpages, security cameras, lighting control, a/c control and all wifi compatable devices????

2. First revision of the software is slated to come out next month. The change is cut and paste capability for previous model hex codes.
3. This remote is not $5000-6000 like others mentioned.

4. The wifi to Ir adapter Is due out this summer.

5. The RS232 adapter is due at the end of the year.

Patience, patience.

no just need to emulate the remote part. I don't think any one needs to emulate surfing the web on the remote :-)
I think an emulator also gives an idea of look and feal if you have not had a chance to play with an actual remote
