I wanted this until I found all this useful feedback. If you could go back and spend about the same money (up to about $2,500)for such a touchscreen that did home theater, home automation, email, etc., what would you get instead?

Id hire a laborer to stand by my rack and press buttons also would have lighting control maybe do windows as well..

then again it could be a good looking female laborer
at least I could get a foot massage out of it.

that should last about a month for 2500 bucks..

lol...

Thanks a lot! I want color and the ability to not only control home automation items but also check email when needed. I like the Marantz but it does not seem to do email.

there are some people that are actually happy with it. But I would wait a bit longer. I have not given up on the iPronto yet, if you can , the best thing might be to wait for now

You might look into getting an AirPanel or a tablet PC and using the Cinemar software. If you do a search on cinemar or airpanel, you should turn up some info.

If you want to check email, get a cheapo desktop, add IR remote control to it, program a 9200, and you will finally have a reason to use the projector's VGA input. This could actually cost less than the iPronto.

As Joe Florio said after saying he gave up, waiting was worthwhile. Of course, he already had the iPronto, so he sort of had to wait until somebody gave wings to his silver frisbee. I can relate to that -- my boss at the time was NOT pleased when I called a new product "the IntelliTurd" in front of the customer who had bought it and was paying for programming. It had just come out and the other installer was going through hell because of its initial problems. He loves them now that they actually work.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks Dish. Aren't the Crestron and the AMX touchscreens something like $8k? I am hoping to keep the touchscreen to $2k.
