It should be out VERY VERY shortly. And it's 400MHz instead of the original 200MHz.

Without sounding bigoted or whatever, the person at the booth spoke in an english thickly laden with Chinese. I felt compelled to ask him the same questios twice, amd I'm still not sure of the answers. They were:

No RF now, but perhaps in the future.

There will be some sort of IR routing, and it's unclear whether this will await an upgrade.

MSRP remains at $1699. Totally different software management. This one sounds like it's going to be harder to like.

from the lit. it will have an 802.11b card, so it does not do RF like the ProntoPro (which I guess is what was meant) but 802.11b is the Rf standard used by IP networks like the internet. Also from what I read it is the only way to download the config file, so it basically needs to be there.

There's a USB port on the unit.

I just looked at Philips white paper on iPronto. You don't need RF.

They show a device called a network extender that can be plugged into your lan or use a wireless 802.11 card and it can send IR --OR-- RS232.

That makes the iPronto VERY interesting.

I am dying... When are we going to get some news on availability?

Daniel, can I infer from the fact that you have not yet gotten one that it will still be a while for the general public to get their hands on one?

I was told that they'd be out right after the 3000s, which are supposed to be shipping now (although only to select distributors). So I would expect the iProntos next month. We'll see.

Maybe a little, Anthony. ;-)

Over there I said they were a month away and here I said next month. Either way, that's February, but who knows for sure. The fact that they haven't sent one to Daniel yet sounds like there may be some delay.

I know that it will be about a month before I can locate one of these...Waiting to hear your findings/thoughts. I would be happy to get my hands on the iprontoedit code for now, any ideas when that will be available?

Daniel, do you have a wireless network you'll be using it on?
