I have two TVs side by side LG 60UB8200 and the Samsung UN60KS800 going through a Yamaha A3050. One TV goes through zone 1 and the other TV goes through zone 4 on the Yamaha receiver. For a source I have 2 xbox one, dish and apple TV.

I have a Harmony Elite remote and would like to control both TVs and watch both at the same time. I went with the approach that I could create two separate activities and watch both at the same time.

Activity 1 - watch dish on LG
turn on LG TV, turn on zone 1 on the Yamaha receiver and turn on dish network.

Activity 2 - watch appleTV on Samsung
turn on Samsung TV, turn on zone 4 on the Yamaha receiver and turn on appletv.

Both work great independently but I have a huge flaw in my design. The remote only thinks I can do one thing at a time, so it turns off one to do the other.

Has anyone else overcome this problem? I figure that I could buy another remote and treat the two TVs independently but would really like a solution where I could use just one remote.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mike

The below article provides instructions on how to keep devices on when switching Activities

[Link: support.myharmony.com]

Keep this device on when switching Activities

This option will power on the device the first time but keep it turned on when you switch from one Activity to the next. The device will be powered off when you press the Off button on your Harmony remote indicating that you want everything turned off.

Let me know if this solves your problem

That does solve my problem as written. Thank you for the idea. It does a create a new problem and that is to shut off all of the devices at the same time or to control the other devices.

I did come up with another solution. Create an activity that turns on both TVs and sources. I would have to create a combination of all activities that I wanted to perform and I think it would work but there would be some drawbacks.

Scenario 1
Turn on LG TV, Turn on Dish, Turn on Yamaha receiver zone 1, Turn on Samsung TV, Turn on Apple TV, Turn on Yamaha receiver zone 4. This works well, but I am not able to control the apple TV. I could possibly create custom buttons that would allow control for the apple TV but I haven't gotten that far.

I would then need to create every combination that I would possibly want to watch and also the scenario where I would want to watch just one TV.

Does anyone see a flaw in this plan?
