I'm used the Universal Remote brand (MX-650, MX-850, MX-900, etc) and their base stations (MRF-250, 260, etc). I've created setups in my last house with those and had lots of remotes and lots of hubs controlling all my different devices.

I moved and got the Ultimate Home remotes in my theater room, and one for my family room. In the family room, I'm controlling an HTPC in my basement with the hub. But I wanted to put a hub by the TV because the IR to control power, volume, and input fails unless I'm reaching an arm out towards the TV and aiming exactly at it. I also wanted a cheaper remote I could keep out for company since I've got the white Ultimate Home remote and don't want to see it ruined!

It seems you can't add another remote and hub to an existing system like I want? I can't add, say, the Smart Home or Smart Control setup and have another hub (for the TV) and remote (for company) ?? You can only control a hub with a single remote? Is that right?? I'm confused and frankly annoyed right now that I've wasted money and can't get the setup I want.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

Every time I am forced to work with and program a Harmony remote I am frustrated and disappointed.

The first thing that I tell people is that since I am unable to write the macros to control the system there are times when the Harmony will become out of sync and it is necessary to push the help button in order to correct the problem with the input or power state. They say they understand but after it is programmed and they are testing it out and problems occur they always have a look of disappointment on their faces when it happens.

I would try to return the Harmony and go back to URC.
If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way?
