Using MyHarmony to set up my new Harmony 650 remote. I'm confused about the different activity types and how they function. There are five called "Watch TV", "Watch a Movie", "Listen to Music", "Watch Smart TV", and "Custom".

For example, I set up a "Custom" activity where a Sony VCR is one of the devices. It serves as a dummy to teach the commands to a Flirc so it can be used to control my FireTV box. When I launched that activity the current device was not that VCR, so it wouldn't control the FireTV. (If I select that VCR as a device, I can control it.) I had to try to explain all this to a Logitech phone support tech who didn't seem to have a full grasp of the English language. I believe what happened next was she deleted the activity and started over with "Watch a Movie" to build the activity and that solved the problem.

My question is why? Why is it that one type of activity leaves the VCR as the active device after launching the activity and another doesn't? I can find no documentation of this anywhere in the Logitech literature.

Here's another one along the same lines. I set up some favorite channels under the "TV" device using over-the-air channels that I frequently watch using the antenna. I made a "Watch Smart TV" activity and these favorites don't show up on the remote. Do I fix this by making a new activity, starting with a "Watch TV" activity to build it?

Again, why?

And here's another one. That tech support person seems to have told me that there is no way to rearrange the order of the appearance of the activities on the remote's screen. Is this true?! Seems weird because you can rearrange what appears in each quadrant of the screen on other pages.

A Custom Activity, has to have all of the commands mapped manually, no devices would be set as the controlling device in the activity.  For the VCR, you would be better off creating a Watch a Movie Activity, then your VCR would be set as the default device for controlling in your Activity.

Thanks. So I take it this is something you learned from practice. It's not documented anywhere. Likewise with the Watch TV activities the controlling device is chosen during set up.

And there's no way to rearrange the activities on the activity screen?

No, you cannot rearrange Activities order.  And yes I know about setting up Custom activities from long time experiance, have been using Harmony remotes for over 8 years, and have been one of Harmony's beta testers since 2009.

I appreciate your help. It appears to me that the higher-level features of the MyHarmony software are not documented. They're not in the text of the help menus, and they're not in the instruction manual. I've had to learn about them and find them by searching forums.
