I posted here 2 years ago needing help in programing my brothers Harmony One and received such great help I'm back again. He just purchased a Denon E400 to replace an old Kenwood VR-505 so that changes my programing.

His old Kenwood didn’t have HDMI inputs so I had to connect his devices DirecTV HR-24 and LiteOn Dvd directly to his Panasonic Plasma and then run the audio to the Kenwood. Now with the Denon everything will be run directly to it and be switched by it.

Since it’s been so long since I programed his remote I’ve got to try to remember how I did it since I can’t even remember what I did yesterday.ha!

I know the first thing I need to do is add the Denon to the Harmony software but am I going to have to start from scratch with the programing or just tweak some things? I would appreciate some guidance on how to proceed. Thanks!

Mike

Add the new AVR, delete the Old AVR, then run through the setup for any of the Activities that included to old AVR.  Once you delet the old AVR thos activities that included it will say needs setup. Click on Needs Setup for each activity, and one of the questions that will be asked is how you control the volume, select the new AVR, you will also have to change the input for the TV, and you will be assked which input your TV needs to be on as well as what input the AVR needs to be on.  Be sure you Update the remote when you are done.

Thanks rehaz1 for responding and the directions!

Since all devices will be hooked up directly to the Denon AVR (not like before) what TV input should be selected for each Activity when you're going through the Activity setup. Would you use say HDMI 1 for all Activities?

I know my brother had a problem awhile back of getting his remote to connect to Harmony's servers is there a fix for this?

That would be the most likely connection for the TV

Another question if you don't mind when going through the Harmony software setup for his LiteOn Dvd and “Watch DVD Activity” I’m a little stumped. The LiteOn only has Component outputs but the Denon AVR does do Analog to HDMI Conversion so all devices can be switched by HDMI. Here’s the steps:

To Watch a DVD which device do you use to control the volume?  Selected Denon

What input or channel does your LiteOn DVD Recorder need to be on? I’m not sure what it’s asking here? Options are: TV, AV 1, AV 2, S-Video, DV, Source input is missing.

What input or channel does your Panasonic TV need to be on? Selected HDMI

What input or channel does your Denon AVR need to be on? Selected DVD

Whatever input the analog cables are connected to,  This would also hold true for the AVR, it the DVD input is the actual physical connection the the analog cables are actually going to otherwise the AV connection, since the AVR is upscaling the connection.  If the DVD physical connection is a HDMI or Component connection, then the analog cables cannot physicaly connect to that connection.  You have to state which actual physical connection is going to and not what the Upscale connection is.  Hope this makes sense.  When stating your cabling connection, you have to select the actual physical connection not what the upscale output is.

Rehaz1 thanks again but I keep coming up with questions. I accidently erased my "Watch TV" activity and I can't remember how I programed it before since the Panasonic TV doesn't have a discrete "Ant" command. From my thread a couple of years ago jlet was helping me posts 11 & 12 [Link: remotecentral.com]

I took a snapshot of some of my screens when I did this before from my Activity Start/Exit macro these were my commands:

Panasonic TV > "TvVideo command is sent to the Panasonic TV"
Panasonic TV > "1" command is sent to the Panasonic TV"

I figured out how I programed the "TvVideo" command but I can't remember how I did the "1" command?

In the software, select your Watch TV Activity, select Settings, select Review settings for this activity, select Yes but I want to add more control---------, select Save, then select a couple of Nexts until you get to the custom actions screen where you can add the command 1 or channel 1 from the device that you want.

Yes that's how I did the Panasonic TV > "TvVideo command is sent to the Panasonic TV".

I know I can add the channel 1 but I don't think that's how it was done before because the end result says Panasonic TV is set to "channel 1" instead of Panasonic TV > "1" command is sent to the Panasonic TV" as before.

So how do I do this (in detail) because I'm sure this is what I did before from jlet:

You could also use the activity Start/Exit custom actions to issue the full sequence (TvVideo+1) and map a dummy command (a do nothing command) to the "TV" source input.
