Hello, I just purchased a Denon AVR-5803 receiver (it's a monster!) however it came with no remote. The only remote I own that is programmable is a Harmony 300.

I think I am just looking to do very basic things with it, turn the receiver on and off, turn the volume up or down, and possibly a few other functions.

I'm having trouble locating codes for the AVR-5803 though.

Should I in theory be able to use the remote for these simple applications, if I find remote codes for the 5803?

Thanks in advance!

I checked with my H680 and the Denon AVR-5803 is already in the database. Check again.

Ah okay, thanks! I found the den-rec-generic files, and now have the receiver codes. Learning curve time, I have no clue what I'm doing! I have software for my Harmony 300 that I am launching, will see if I can figure something out. New adventure.

I connected my remote to my PC and fired up the webapp through Logitech online, and the 5803 was already in their database for the 300! Interesting.

I added it, and it showed the button mappings and it exists, however it isn't working at all. Says it's set to the VCR/Aux button, which I've pressed, but nothing will power the unit on or off, or change any controls. Hmm, maybe I'm missing something? I hope the IR isn't messed up on my Denon.

One other thing is, when I press the power button the TV button lights up on the remote. I'm not sure if that's normal or not.

Oh, duh! I didn't hit the 'Sync' button from their web app!

Man I'm a remote noob. Alright, it's working now. Just had to talk it through with myself here!

Man, I am so new to this I didn't even understand what you mean by it already being in the database. I get it now!

Thanks :)
