Hello lmoss2004,

Thanks for your feedback. We have circled back to our engineering team to better understand the reasons behind this limit. If it can be increased it will be considered for a future release.

Regards

-Sylvain

Hi Sylvain

I hope you mean future releases of the firmware and not a new remote.

Another question

From the Harmony website

"Harmony Hub turns RF signals from the remote control into IR and Bluetooth® commands your home theater devices can understand...."

Does this mean that the IR blasters are not "required"?

I understand that without the hub, the remote control will not control IR devices in my (not enclosed) component shelf. But...I really do not have a need for the IR blasters. Are they "required" contacted in order to get the IR out of the hub?

EDIT:

After a further research, I found this review:
[Link: tuaw.com]

"If there's anything that needs to improve, it's the description of when to use or not use the IR blaster. The entire Harmony Hub is an IR blaster and works well even on a shelf below the TV; I wasn't really sure if I'll ever need to use the separate IR blaster. In fact, Logitech may have gone a bit too far in trying to do away with documentation of this product."

Correct - future firmware/platform releases!

I see from the app store, that the Harmony Control app is native for iPhone only. Will it be updated to be native for iPad?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi, new to the forum, so hopefully I am posting this in the right topic.

Is it possible to programme the Harmony Ultimate with the direct IR codes so that the blaster repeats them? I have a lighting system, with an IR detector and I know the codes for it, but there's no remote to speak of as it was originally designed for a pronto system.

Thanks,
Martin.

You can program IR codes into the Ultimate, such for X-10 devices, then use your IR543 for the conversion.

How do you do it, I can't figure out how to do it on the Harmony site?

Thanks.

Hi Kenny,

Although Harmony 900 and Harmony Ultimate were designed with the same RF use cases in mind (including yours), the RF technology is completely different between the two products. I expect Harmony Ultimate to work fine in the setup you described.

Ian.

I bought the Harmony Ultimate and it works perfectly! No more issues like I had with the Harmony 900.

Hi Dixon,

I'm looking to replace an old Pronto and need the set-up that you mentioned - some devices in a cabinet controlled via RF and some out front controlled by IR. From what you say, that is possible with the Ultimate. Before I buy one, could you let me know where you found the information? I've been looking, but it seems well hidden!

Thanks, Phil.

That exactly what the Ultimate is designed for.  I have two, one setup is controlling a TV mounted on a wall, by IR, and 3 devices in a closed cabinet via RF converted to IR.  The second setup controlls a TV via IR, and other devices in a media room, 20' away from the TV.  I was also a beta tester for the ultimate.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me solve this problem. I just purchased and installed the Ultimate Hub and am very happy with it. I decided to retire my Harmony One and just use the app on my iPhone and iPad and it is terrific (except managing all the stupid Logitech/MyHarmony website login issues). I only have one problem which is incorporating my Belkin Conserve Energy-Saving Surge Strip (model # BG108000-04) into the mix. I use this excellent power-tree to shut down the eqpt that doesn't need to be sucking electricity when it isn't in use. It has a small RF remote that you click and it shuts off 6 of the 8 outlets on it. I'd very much like to be able to program this into my Hub but Logitech doesn't have it in their database and I can't figure out how to create a profile for an RF device not listed or supported (yet) at MyHarmony. The Ulitmate definitely supports RF, right? It came with an IR blaster but says little to nothing about RF. Thoughts?

For reference, this is the device I'm referring to:

[Link: amazon.com]

I have two of them in my house that are controlled by the same remote(s). You just match the frequency on the device and the remotes via a small and easy pin select interface and they work very well.

Hi

I am just confirming what I understand from this thread: One CAN simply connect a cable from the IR mini blaster output from the Hub into the IR receiver port or punch-down on a Speaker Craft/Xantach IR block. Is that correct?

If going from the HUB IR output plug into a speaker craft or Xantach IR block, how should the wires be punched down? i.e. there are two wires on the Harmony cable (I will cut the blaster off the cable or use a generic mono cable from the HUB, leaving two bare wires to connect to the IR block), whereas the Speakercraft IR receiver block punch-down has 4 terminations and the Xantach (I believe) has 3. My guess would be to connect the 2 wired from the HUB to the IR and GND punch-downs on the block. Is that correct? If so, how do I determine which wire is which coming from the HUB, e.g. would "tip" be IR out or GND?

Thanks!!

Hi Ian,

I just bought the Ultimate Harmony Remote with Hub and I'd like to know if the Smart Keyboard will control my Google TV (Sony NSZ-GT1)

Via bluetooth or Wi-Fi ?

thanks,

Celso

Hi everyone,

I'm Ian and am a member of the Harmony Product Management and Design team. I wanted to introduce myself and join the discussion about Harmony Ultimate and Smart Control and help answer any questions about the product features, how to use it, etc.

I see a couple comments about the IR-out from the Hub. Yes, the Harmony Ultimate ships with two IR mini-blasters and the hub itself blasts IR. Same general idea as Harmony 900. If you need more precise control or have your devices in multiple closed off cabinets, our Precision IR cables have 4 IR heads each. Those should be available on our website soon, if not already.

Tinsnow - Which GoogleTV device are you interested in controlling? Right now, the Bluetooth support is limited to PS3, Wii and WiiU. We started with those due to the overwhelming install base and the inability to use IR. Additional BT support will be looked at with the same goals. As for compatibility with URC remotes, no, that is not possible.

Lowpro - I'm curious, where did you see that disclaimer? Is that in reference to a Harmony product?

Hope this helps and if I can answer any more questions, let me know.

Cheers,

Ian.
