is my Harmony 700 totalley worn out because the batteries won't charge?

I've had my Harmony for about one year, usalley charge the batteries everyday.

Recently the orginale batteries won't display the charge image of a battery w/ a green bar graph it just displays activitys.

what I attemped was insert my Ray O Vac Hybird batteries that I use in my digital camera and they will not display that they are charging.

remote still actualley works just wondering if the remote is on it's way out or just needs brand new batteries?

or should I continue bussiness as usalle use the remote when done plug in to AC power (even though there's no display of charging)?
Thanks

Daniel actualley I have a spare brand new AC adapter w/ interface wire. same situation.

Next I try to attach a small wire to my multimeter to stich into the interface wire,
what amount of Voltage should I expect to be mearsuring out of the wire?

I'm curious why the RavO vacs (That are like new) also don't dissplay charging?

Thanks
