I was on the Logitech site today, and the only remotes listed are the Touch, the 1100, and the 650. I called them up, and was told that the 900 has been discontinued. Does anyone here have any idea if Logitech will be replacing the 900 with another model? I don't want to buy a 900 if something better is coming along. I've read about a lot of problems with the 900, and don't want a lemon.

I'm pretty disappointed with the lack of viable choices out there.. I'm looking for mid-to-upper end remote to control a home theater system where all the components are in the back of the room. Precision IR micro-blasters are a must for me. I'd love to get a URC model, but only if I could get my hands on the software. There's no way I'm paying a custom installer to program a remote control for me!

I wouldn't hold my breath for something better, they replaced the One with the Touch, which is a POS in my opinion.  If you can get a 900, I would buy it.

I just noticed the news article on the left sidebar here... Logitech is selling the Harmony business. Looks like universal remotes are a dying product. This is crazy.

Hi Larry, just purchased myself a 900 under the "blemished box" deals at the site here Delivered within two working days and the box had a slight crease. Bought a 900 as I needed RF. Like the look/functionality of the Touch, but need RF for my components.

It may not be issues with the remote business, this may be a more successful division and one of the easier ways for Logitech to raise cash.

But they may also feel that there is no future in the remote business.

Now I wouldn't want to use my iPod touch as my main remote but the MSRP of an iPod Touch is $50 less than the MSRP of the Harmony Touch. Maybe the days of consumers paying >$150 for remotes is gone, especially since everyone has a smartphone and devices are moving to IP control from IR.

Buh Bye Harmony

(wave wave)

No wait a minute,   the name alone is worth millions.  We will soon have Harmony branded TV's and electronic gear.  Ala Polaroid, Westinghouse.
