Hey folks. I got some new devices and am trying to get a new Harmony programmed.

I bought a Sony BDP-S790 Blu-Ray player and was disappointed to find that the myharmony database doesn't have discrete PowerOn or PowerOff for it. Just a toggle.

However, I read online that older remotes will work with it and found that an older Sony BD device DOES have the discrete power commands in myharmony.com (I think it is model 570??)

So I added that as a dummy device. Looked in it and can see the discrete codes. However, I can't figure out how to add those codes to my Watch a Movie activity. I was HOPING that I could add both devices to that activity and then just use the power on and power off for the "dummy device" and use the S790 for all other commands. But myharmony wants to force me to turn on BOTH devices. So in my activity start up, it lists turning on the TV, the Receiver, and then now these TWO Blu-Ray players.

Is this limitation expected? Or is there some way to remove one of those devices but still access their commands in the activity that I'm not seeing?

So I'm guessing my options are:

1. Just go with the older device ONLY in the programming. That will work for the discretes, but I'll miss out on a couple useful new commands (advance and replay).

2. Use a workaround like "Play" to turn on the device and "Play + PowerToggle" to turn off the device.

Am I missing anything?

Unless you have another learning remote where you can learn the discrete codes from that device profile, then teach those discrete code back to your original device profile.  Your other option is to contact Harmony support directly and have them copy those discrete commands from the one device profile to your other device profile

Thanks - those are 2 good ideas.

Well - upon your suggestion, I emailed Logitech about the issue and not only have the already responded, but they also learned the IR discrete power codes and placed them in my account. I sync'd my remote and am all set up.

How's THAT for customer service. I am impressed!
