Hello folks,

I have an 880 that has been working very well for years. I replaced a dead PS3 with a Panasonic 220 BluRay player. Set up the remote the way I like it but I have an activity to watch DVD on projector where I have a screen button that for some reason turns on my TV when it's not even included in the activity. The TV is a Philips LCD.

Anyone ran into something like this?

Thanks

Turn off HDMI control in your player and TV. This is probably not a remote issue, but the settings on the two devices.

Ooh you might be on to something here! The new panasonic has viera link feature that is ON. This might be the culprit. This also happens when I listen to the radio stations on my Onkyo receiver. I press a button and the damn TV turns on, I don't listen often so I never really tried to find out what was doing it.

Thanks for your help, you just solved two of my issues :)

I haven't tested the Panasonic yet but I tried it on the Onkyo 705. I turned off Power Control and TV Control in the Hardware Setup menu but anything I do when I do anything in Zone 2 turns on the TV. Correction to my earlier post, it's only in Zone 2 that does this. Regular radio listening does not do it.

Are you using the Harmony to turn on Zone 2? They are not great solutions for 2 zone systems, but can me made to work. If you are, try powering on Zone 2 with the Onkyo Remote, or from the receiver itself if it has the capability to do so (not so familiar with Onkyo). See if the TV powers on then.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using the Onkyo remote for Zone 2 operations.

I found the HDMI Control for the Panasonic player but I cannot find the EasyLink feature of the Philips TV! The manual says it's there but when I look at the menu I don't see it.

It's not a big deal right now since I don't use it often. The movie watching is/was my priority. It will still bug me though that I cannot find a way to turn it OFF LOL.
