If I am watching TV and use the Watch DVD activity it moves input to HDMI2, which is fine since that is where BD player is plugged in. The problem is it adds a BD PLAYER input to the list and if I switch back to watch TV it always comes up short because the BD Player input comes and goes. How do I work around this to ensure it finds HDMI 1?

What is the model number of your Vizio TV? It may support discrete input commands even if they are not on the original remote. Check all its input commands in device mode. If it does not support discrete commands, then make sure its Device Adjust inputs is configured properly (list of inputs in the correct order), and that your answered all the questions (skipping inputs, power up input) correctly.

Vizio seems to be a maverick in terms of commands. I struggled with several workarounds on mine until I called Logitech and they asked my model number, said okay we know about that unit. Several minutes later, they sent me an email that said to connect the remote to the PC and update it. Worked perfectly ever since.
Obviously, my enthusiasm is exceeded only by my ignorance
