Sorry for the newbie questions.  I've tried searching, but came up with posts that are over 8 years old, perhaps irrelevant.

With my 650, I found the on line software to be superb.  Until I wanted to do sequences.

After downloading and redoing everything with the v7.7.0 software, I can't seem to find how to reoganize the menus that are shown for each activity.  I can tweak geeky little details like how long the back light stays on, but I can't do things to make using the remote sane for my wife and kids.

I read a little something about XML.  Is that how I reorder menus and change names in them?  If so, where do I find the file?

As a software developer, I'm fine with editing XML (and would probably make an app to do it, if I do it manual more than 5 times).

If I can't have both the menu editing of the on line software with the sequences of the installed software, I think I'm leaving Harmony for another brand.

I presume you understand and have set up "devices" and "activities"? Activities are really important to get the best out of the Harmony remotes, as a lot of the stuff you'd normally want to address with macros is handled automatically when you switch activities (turning things on/off, switching inputs etc.).

You need to be changing buttons. For each device that's in "settings" and for activities that's in "customize buttons". Your "menus" are in "additional buttons". Nopt the "add a sequence" button at the bottom. Once you have created a sequence, that sequence can then be assigned to a button (hard button or "additional" soft button).

...and there isn't any local XML as all the config is pumped up the line to your account on Logitech's servers - even with the desktop software.
