I have a Harmony 1000 and RF extender that controls a Pioneer AV (VSX-91TXH) and Comcast's Motorola digital cable box for HDTV. I also have a Sony DVD Disc Explorer and Escient Fireball attached. Everything works fine but two days ago the Harmony 1000 started acting funny. To change the channel, I could input 1 channel number, but I would have to hold and repeat holding the button for the 2nd channel number and rarely if ever successfully input a third channel number. Thus, for channel 233, I could successfully change the TV to channel 2, sometimes it would make it to 23 and after about 10 minutes of working with the controller, I might get 233.

The Harmony has the original battery from 2008 when we bought the device. We have two Harmony 1000s which were bought at the same time and they have both been in use on two different TV systems. One works and the other is failing to work properly. I have just ordered two new batteries for both of the devices. Is that the problem or is there something else that I need to look into?

In addition to this, I have to continually reboot both of these devices by removing the battery, letting it discharge for about 10 seconds and then re-installing the battery. Is this normal?
