I've installed dozens of Harmony's, but never seen one act like this! When the customer presses help because he hasn't pointed his remote straight/long enough at the devices, the remote is sending the power command to the projector! In my experience, the help button will first send Input commands, not power commands until the later steps on the help system.

Anyone seen a harmony act this way? I'm going to try removing the projector and re-adding it. But since you can't modify the way the help button works as far as I know, I don't know how to fix this, and Harmony support sent me a response covering all the obvious things that I had already done.

Also has anyone found a way with these Panasonic projectors to have direct input selection? The unit isn't capable of skipping unused inputs, so the harmony is forced to send the input command 7 times to get from HDMI2 to HDMI1 and customers just don't keep it pointed that long times :)

Thanks for reading, look forward to your feedback!

The Help system first sends all discrete Power & Input commands to all devices deemed & configured to use the discrete method. Then, for each device, it ask if its power state is correct, then it checks their inputs.

The default power configuration for the Panasonic PT-AR100 projector is to use the discrete method (A button on the remote for On, and a different button for Off), but it does not have discrete power commands. It uses one "PowerToggle" command for the Power On function, and 2 "PowerToggle" commands for the Power Off function. That is asking for trouble. Try changing the configuration to use the toggle method (One button on the remote for turning it both On and Off).

The dataset does not have discrete input commands for that device. Try a similar model, or try the "Discrete Code Hunter" forum under "Jump to" at the bottom of this RC page.

Note: If you can't find discrete input commands, then it might be easier to add the "inputnext" command directly in the Projector's activity(ies) mapped to a convenient unused button.

What I have found works great with Panasonic Projectors is to use power toggle mode instead of discrete on/off with the Harmony. This prevents it from accidentally turning on if hitting the help button if the unit is already off.
Send power toggle and two enter commands to turn it both on and off. When hitting help on the remote it will ask before it acts.
In configuration of your projector
-Adjust power settings
-Turn off when not in use
-One button on the remote for turning on/off
-My Device needs more commands
-Use : Power Toggle: ENTER: ENTER

Also, the Function button on the remote can be programmed to head straight to an input. Other than that Panasonic Projectors have limited input selectors. There are a few commands that Logitech and add to your file to give you a HDMI only selector. That will toggle just the HDMI inputs. Getting a receiver with HDMI switching will solve all of the headaches. Call customer support and they can add the commands for you.
Hope it helps.

I am having trouble getting the Panasonic PT-AX100U projector to turn on with the Harmony 890. Help button always works and it always turns off with the activity every time. Any ideas what could cause this? I am setup for the same button to turn on as to turn off.

Since the Help button turns it on, it is probably a delay problem, try increasing the inter-device delay setting for the projector.
