I noticed when setting up a new 900 that there is an option for both
x-10 and x-10 wireless

Does anyone know why? Does this possibly mean that the 900 can directly
communicate to X-10 wireless (RF) devices?

No it can't, you will need an X10 IR-543 receiver to communicate between your Harmony remote and your X10 Devices.  Choose the X10 Pro device.
