hi all,
probably an easy fix but I haven't had to do anything for a while so I'm out of touch.

just upgraded my AV and am using HDMI for everything now between TV, Xbox, PVR, except one activity, "TV Direct" So I had to do a bit of reprograming of my One.

the activity called TV Direct. it's for when I don't need all the bells and whistles, usually morning tv before work, and just want the tv on.

problem is that if I've been watching any of the others via HDMI and choose TV Direct from all things being off, it won't select the right input, which on my TV should be "antenna". same when I turn off from TV Direct and then restart in the evening for anything that needs HDMI. won't go direct to HDMI. so it's a problem either way.

any help and advice appreciated.

thanks

Does the "Help" button fix the problem? If so, it's a timing problem. If the problem occurs only on cold start, then try increasing the TV device "Power On" delay, else, try increasing the TV Inter-Device delay. Note: The delays are explained in post #6 of this thread: [Link: remotecentral.com].

If the "Help" button does not fix the problem, then it's a configuration issue.

hi jlet - help will fix it eventually. as in i have to keep pressing help, "is the TV on HDMI 1" - "No" and it will move it across to the next input which is not HDMI 1, so i keep saying no and eventually we get there.

and yes it is only on cold start, starting back into HDMI after shutting down from HDMI is no problem. same goes for "Antenna" shut down from "Antenna" and start back into "Antenna" no problem.

i will check out that delays thread....thx

Then you need to increase the TV device "Power On" delay (to prevent the TV from missing the input command). The reason why you don't have the problem when restarting from the same input, is because it does not send an input command in these cases (Harmony tracks the power and input status of all your devices).

Note: Based on the behaviour of the Help function, it sounds like your TV is configured to use a cycling method (like method 1), instead of the faster and more reliable discrete method (method 2). The Harmony dataset for your LG TV (50PG60UD) has many discrete input commands like InputTuner, InputVideo1-2, InputComponent1-2, InputRGB, InputHdm1-4. Test these discrete commands in device mode paying attention to their behaviour. If they work properly, then reconfigure the TV device Adjust inputs (under Device > Settings > Adjust inputs) to use method 2 (discrete method), which is the Harmony default method for this model (ignore the comment on what the original remote can or can't do. The capability of the original remote is irrelevant. It's the capability of the TV that counts).
