Just bought a Harmony 1100 to replace a recently dead Pronto 3500 the pronto replacements way to costly tried using a Universal R50 for interim but there is so much I need to do that the R50 can't. I have remote powered curtains, screen and lights among other things that the R50 was just to frustrating to use.

Just bought it, hate trying and setting up new things and don't want to end up with buyers remorse before I even set it up.

So hopefully I didn't make a mistake getting it and maybe people with experience can clam my fears.

Also if you have any advice in setting it up or things I should know please share.

What are the brands of the non audio visual devices you are setting up? As long as they are powered by infra-red you can set-up custom commands with the Logitech remotes. Even if the products aren't listed on the supported devices.

I have a Stewart Screen with Masking, Generic (cheap ebay) remote controlled curtain rod and a Lutron 5 Scene Light Controller. Also a Velodyne SMS-1 Sub-EQ and Roku streaming Video Controller. As far as the not so generic brand name stuff.

Now I'm really concerned. Should I take the silence to mean anything?

The 1100 isn't as popular as the other models but if you like touchscreens then it should work just fine. Just remember you need to work with the Harmony activity model, not against it. Define your devices, power settings and inputs and then set up your activities according to how you want to use the devices and let the Harmony do the work of powering on and off and selecting inputs. If you run into problems with a device not responding to commands and the HELP button fixes it - try increasing the inter-device delay.

I'm a recent 1100 owner (about a month now) and have little regrets buying to upgrade/replace our One. It controls all our gear (including the SMS-1) just fine, though I'll use the SMS-1 factory remote only when tweaking the sub.  For day-to-day control so far, the 1100 works perfect.

We have the Lutron Maestro IR dimmer* (one preset lighting scene), and the RF extender is located about 15' behind the seating area, controlling that dimmer switch from about 14' away.  Works perfectly.

The eight sidebar buttons are really convenient for adding specific commands such Lights Up, Lights Down, Lights Preset, etc.  There's really no limit to how you can customize this remote.

* Regarding your 5-scene controller, which Lutron model is that? Can it be used as a stand-alone switch, or is it part of a large installed system throughout your home? I'd be interested in having more than one preset lighting scene...

I currently own a Philips TSU3000 which works but will not connect up to XP-SP3 all of a sudden(unknown device). I bought a Harmony 1100. Big mistake. CNET gushed over it. Apparently they did not do a thorough investigation. I made 2 pages of Activities;fine. On the 3rd page, the activities displayed were offset. The 4th page, they were ridiculously offset. Yet they worked if you touched them. You just did not know what you were doing. A second bug. If you set the backlight to low and put the unit on to charge, as soon as you take it off, the 1100 resets itself back to about 50%. You have to go and reset it deliberately to low after charging. After frustrating emails with Logitech, they accused me of buying off Ebay as a third party which voided any warranty even after I uploaded the sales slip. Be very careful of the 1100. I got an exchange at the store I bought it. If this does the same thing, it is the Prius with floormats. OS=WIN7-SP1
Logitech Software=7.70(upgrade).You get 7.5 in the kit. My motherboard has USB3.0. Nevertheless, the remote worked, but you could not see the Activities after page2 without the offset problem. The software could not find all my devices. Blu-Ray is DVD2 and there I found a Sony DVD with the exact same codes. This sounds like chip problems in the device. Note that Logitech has not got the 1100 for warranties on their Website. Hmmmm! They do for the 1000. Yet I'm still using my TSU3000 until someone knows what is with the "unknown device error" that just mysteriously popped-up. Anyway I have an exchange unit and maybe I will get lucky. Sorry I cannot help with RF extenders. I live in an apartment. You can see IR being the choice.

Have you tried reinstalling PENG?

PENG works fine for me with XP-SP3.

Yes, If you refer to the CD Pronto Edit NG, but I got the upgrade off of Philips 3.1.3. and the 3000 was working long after on the computer uploading and downloading and then bang: unknown device. I'm wondering it is all the service patches and fixes from MS that sabotaged the USB connection. It shouldn't need a .inf file. It is USB2. I tried it on Win7 with USB3 and the same thing. The Tsu3000 still works fine unless I got a new piece of gear. CNET said the Harmony 1100 was the cat's meow but do not believe it. If you have more than 2 pages of activities (macros) they are displayed offset on the screen and Logitech just says "We are working on the problem". The store I bought it at said do not run it on Win7 but on XP even though Logitech says it is ok for WIN7 or Vista. It runs on WIN7.
My Win7 hardware is basically Athlon Phenom Deneb 3.4Ghz 16GB mem behind a firewall with 2 other computers XP-SP3 & win2Kserver-SP4. What you really need is a high speed modem for the uploads. I really like to solve my working TSU3000 though. I tried fiddling with the power management settings on other USB root hubs, but you cannot do that to an "unknown device". It wants a device driver.Huh? I tried different USB ports and mini-USB cables, and no luck.
