I'm trying to get the 880 to work with the TV. So far, I've tried the full range of Logitech installation without any success. The TV remote doesn't seem to be able to talk to the 880 (when I put them head to head and press the indicated key, the 880 says 'No IR signal detected' - This sort of indicates that it is seeing some signal or why would it change from the instruction to press a key to the 'no IR signal detected?). I can't find a website for Ferguson to check their support. What I need, I think, is the hex codes for the remote so that I can send them to Logitech for input to their database. Can anyone help with either the website or hex code information?

Many thanks.

Cheers,

Joe Smith

Did you check first to see if they're already in the database? Are you sure it's an IR remote and not RF?

did you put new batteries in your ferguson remote when trying to learn IR? you can also contact Logitech directly, they already have other similar devices setup in their DB and perhaps have notes on which set of IR commands matches your device.

Yes, I've dealt with Logitech up to their 2nd level support in Canada and they are very helpfull but so far no result. I find it curious that when I press a key to learn a command, the indication on the 880 changes from 'Press a key' to 'No IR signal detected'. It must be detecting something, otherwise why change the message? I've also tried hanging a cloth over the two remotes to exclude outside light and using different 'dwell' times on pressing the key to see if that has an effect. Nada.

Thanks,

Joe

Xpat, I've put new batteries in (twice) and moved the relative positions of the two remotes. Nothing makes any difference, although the 880 set up and works fine with all the other bits I have (DVD, Streamer, SKY + digibox, Audio Amp).

Thanks, any other ideas?

The 'learn' part of the 880 remote is NOT the top of the remote. It is the bottom of the remote.

Right, but assuming one follows the tutorial displayed on the computer, or if one called Harmony support, all should be OK. Joe, are you pointing the original remote at the bottom of the Harmony (opposite the end where the USB cable plugs in)?

Can you learn IR commands from any of your other remotes?? If the Harmony cannot learn commands from any other remote then maybe you have a defective IR learning port on the remote. Other than that, sounds like you've followed pretty much every trick in the book (short of standing on your head and clapping at the same time).

In extreme cases, you can also request to send your original remote to the Harmony head office in Canada so they can learn the commands for you in their lab. Alternately you could try learning the commands for your remote with another Harmony (perhaps one of your friends has a Harmony you could borrow).

One final note: the Harmony remotes can learn most but not all types of IR signals, especially those in higher frequencies or those emitting a high bit rate signal. This problem is known to occur with Bang & Olufsen remotes among others (Uverse is another that comes to mind, off hand). In this case, you would probably need to send your original remote to Harmony, or have the manufacturer provide hex/binary codes for the remote IR commands so that Harmony support can manually program the commands for you.

Yes, the Harmony can Learn from other remotes. I'm waiting for Harmony Canada to advise about sending the Ferguson remote to them as this may be the only way to move this issue along.

Thanks for your help.
