I need some of you experts to tell me if I am pushing this little remote too hard.

Here is system set-up:

Input devices (as seen by the Vizio):
Game (on AV 2)
Sat (on AV 3)
DVD (on HDMI)
DTV (on DTV)

My issues:

Trying to program remote so that it switches between inputs is getting very frustrating. I can get the remote to bounce between the AV inputs and the HDMI, but I can't get individual settings to stay on their respective inputs.

Example: set everything up from scratch and finally get the SAT input (using the quick TV button on the top of remote) and all is well (after using HELP to get the input right the first time.) I then choose DVD (using the quick botton with the movie deal on top of remote) to go to HDMI. All is well. When I choose to jump back to SAT, wrong input...and going through the help menu each time takes way too long.

Same issue when I go to DTV...for some reason the input ends up at TV and I have to use help again.

I fear that my remote can't handle what I want to do.

Wife is upset and will not use the room.

Any advice?

I've been messing with the input setting on the remote all night, nothing seems to help. I did the whole write-down-the-input-list, got them in the right order...even tried the Logitech "timing" between input settings in help...this was a joke...I have no idea what they want me to do...I have to press the "NO" button several times, as the inputs jump from AV 2, to AV 3 and without touching anything, to AV 1. Then I start counting as I hit "no" and it jumps to AV 2, and doing nothing again, just watching, jumps to AV 3. DAMNIT. I hit "NO" again and it jumps to AV 1, waiting...FINALLY AV 2. They want me to count this time? Are they kidding? It's like 30 seconds of crap each time...and then they want me to convert to milliseconds...someone has one hell of a sense of humor at Logitech.

I want the damn remote to remember that the SAT is on AV 3, the GAME is on AV 2 and I watch digital TV on DTV...am I asking too much?

I can just go back to my Sunfire remote as it is easier for the family to see the input buttons, but I think there should be an easier way somewhere...that is how I stumbled on this Harmony remote...it had glowing reviews.

Thanks for any help here.

I didn't read your entire post, so forgive me if I missed something ... however, "Vizio" and "input switching problem" in the same sentence usually only means one thing. You need to make sure the model of Vizio TV you added to your account is exactly the same down to the last letter as your TV in reality. For example, the P42-TV10A is not the same as the P42-TV10. Kinda stupid but that's the way the Vizio's work. Each revision of a Vizio TV switches inputs in a slightly different way. Once you add the Vizio TV to your account, DO NOT change any input or delay settings for that device because Harmony support set up a lot of these input switching methods manually; anything you change will compromise those settings.

If you believe the inputs match in the TV and the software and it's configured correctly, try increasing the inter-device delay for the TV to a large value like 5000 MS. If that fixes it, go back to the original value and slowly increase it until it works all the time.

Guys...thanks for the quick responses. This has turned out to be a complete weekend project. I'm off to email Logitech and see if they can make any sense of my issues.

I've done as everyone has suggested, and I'm back at square one again...I just don't think VIZIO and HARMONY are meant for each other.

I'll update for anyone else with this issue if I get any response from Logitech.

Thanks,
TooSlow

Every Vizio TV I've worked with responds great to the Harmony, once the correct settings are configured. So, although setup isn't as straightforward as for a Samsung or Sony TV with straight discrete inputs, it does work. Hopefully Harmony support can work this one out for you.
