Hey gang!

Just flipped from Time-Warner Cable to Dish Network and have been trying to get my Harmony 628 to operate the Dish VIP612 DVR...but with NO luck.

The Logitech software lists the 612 as a device and allows me to set up the remote but I am getting no functionality at all using the 628 in terms of operating the 612 (Power on/off, play/pause, anything).

Don't you have to change the Dish setup from RF to IR first? I think it's RF by default for the first tuner.

And if you change it from RF to IR, ensure that the IR remote address or remote id is set to 1 (ONE), that is the Harmony default (this allows you to have multiple receivers in the same location and be able to control them independent of one another, using different sets of IR commands).

My VIP612 manual said nothing of being able to switch the box itself to IR from RF. It took a bit of searching on the 'net...but I found it deep within the menu.
