Just got a Harmony 670 and am using it with a Dish 722 VIP. The Dish remote had a DVR button that took me straight to my recordings and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to set it up on the 670.

Any help?

Thanks!
David

Yep....pick a button (maybe 'Clear') that is free of a command and go to "customize buttons"...click on the button you want and in the drop down that appears, click on "PVR". (Dish's old name for DVR)

I usually click on 'additional buttons' and create a 'My Shows' in the LCD viewscreen for that purpose.

Does anyone know, has Logitech changed thier code database. I had to completely re-do my 670 and when I was done I could no longer find an "Aspect" or "Picture" command for my Samsung HLR-5667W DLP TV. I could learn the "Aspect" command from the original remote but it never had a single button for "Picture" meaning change from Dynamic to Cool to Movie, etc. Originally Logitech supplied these codes but now it seems they are gone. There are several new ones like "Red", "Green" that don't seem to make any sense?? Any thoughts?

i use the MENU button on my 880 with the 722 - i just put the real menu command on the LCD. i don't really use the 722 all that often and i find this way convenient for me/family.

Paharmony, Harmony does periodically clean up the database. The device datasets are more by brand rather than by specific model. So when you see a message saying there are updates available for this device, don't update that device. Else, you will get the latest "cleaned up" dataset version, and may find many missing commands including some handy ones.

Note: One should always check the dataset of an "updated" device first (by momentarily adding it) before replacing the old one.

jlet, harmony does work on the database constantly. i agree with you when you say not to add "new" devices to your account, if everything works. however, harmony doesn't always remove commands from devices, sometimes they add new commands or improve other features. thus it would be erroneous to state the new devices have many missing commands, though sometimes it's true.

xpat, I agree and edited my post to read: "... may find ...". Note: One should always check the dataset of an "updated" device first (by momentarily adding it) before replacing the old one.

Ok, well they reall got me with this latest "Update". I've pretty much got my 670 bat together, save for the now extinct "Picture" code. It seems odd to me that they would globally remove commands that once were there and add stuff like "Red" and "Green" which I'm at a loss to understand. They look dangerous.

Thanks!

Most newer devices are now using red, green, blue and yellow buttons. These can serve multiple purposes rather than having dedicated buttons that only do one thing. e.g. Red while in the guide may jump back 12 hours while Red in the To Do list might delete the scheduled recording. That was a DVR example but you get the idea. Sounds like Samsung updated their IR language to include those buttons but somehow deleted the Picture code - probably because it doesn't exist on the new equipment.
