When I shake my new Harmony One remote, there is a prominent rattling sound coming from the mid-section of the unit. Can anyone confirm that theirs does or does not rattle.

Thanks

Now that you mention it . . . . I probably would not have any occasion to shake it, but when I do, there is a rattle.

I'm not completely up on the Harmony One guys, but I'd wager it's one of two things.

1) The tilt sensor. Which usually is a ball bearing.

2) Or it's {A wise assed remark about Harmony Build quality, That I'll refrain from making in the spirit of the Holiday}.

The build quality of this remote is much better than the Harmony 659, which I returned pretty soon after purchasing. The design and layouts of the buttons are much smarter, too. Even better than the trusty old HTM MX-700 which it replaces. I've just started using it, but I am very impressed.

i agree. the overall ergonomics of the remote is superior to many others i've used. i especially like the differently-shaped and textured hard buttons. after many months of use my fingers easily mapped to the remote w/o having to look at it.

But OMG--that shiny black surface--what were they thinking? One day and it's a totally disgusting fingerprint and dirt collage.

I always wondered why I never heard complaints about the finish. My pioneer eqiupment has the piano finish (which I love) and it's a household rule never to touch for sake of finger prints.

i know. it sure looks nice until you pick it up after eating a plateful of ribs. i usually don't use it much when eating and i do keep the black polishing cloth that came with the remote nearby. for a good cleaning without messing up the finish i use an eyeglass cleaning wipe i picked up at lenscrafters. only use that once a month or so.

I also abhor the appearance of fingerprints, etc. but since a touchscreen is involved, which will necessarily show fingerprints no matter what, I find that I can overlook the shiny black finish.

Maybe someday they can make a touchscreen which does not show up fingerprints?
