Is it possible to program the 550 buttons to have a "default" action when not in activity or device mode? I've got a lighting controller that I have programmed to the same buttons in every activity, but I'd also like it to operate when no activity or device is selected (i.e. after I've pressed the "off" button on the 550). Is that possible?

Yes I realize I could go into device mode, select the lighting controller, and then control it. Just looking for a one-step workaround, my wife really likes the idea of never worrying about "devices" again.

I did a search here and didn't find anything, so apologies if my first post here is an annoying frequently-asked question...if it is, please just point me in the right direction! Thanks!

Nope. Easiest solution is to create an OFF activity and select that activity when you're finished instead of using the OFF button on the remote. The only device in the activity should be the light controller. This will turn off everything else but allow you to operate the lights.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Unfortunately that will bump one other activity off the 1st page of the LCD menu, and I do like that it's got my 4 most frequent activities displayed right now.

Too bad that all those buttons are dead unless you're in an activity or device though. Oh well, the 550 is still miles better than the URC-8910 it replaced.

Thanks, akirby, that idea worked great.
