I'm looking to get one of the Logitech Harmony remotes, but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't really want to spend over $100 on a remote, which leaves me with a couple options... the 550 or 670.

Logitech's website isn't very helpful for comparing these two, so I'm hoping someone who has used both will be able to comment.

Thanks in advance.

The 600 series has been having some problems so better to go with a 500.

I noticed that they have a Harmony for the Xbox 360 as well. It sounds like you don't really need to have a 360 (although I have one) to use it as it has the same functionality as the other Harmony remotes (just four additional buttons).

How does that compare to the 550?

I would not get the 550 if I were you. Buttons too small, hard to read, terrible build quality. Lo Res LCD. Try the 670 or 880 imo. Those should both be under $100 now the One is out.

I agree...I just posted in another thread, but I would avoid the 550. I'm on my third unit with the first two replaced under warranty. And this third one has some of the same issues I had with the first two....buttons just quit working, etc.

WOW. while i'm impressed by there warranty policy of sending out a brand new unit (i just went through this process with a 670), its also discouraging they say to just throw the old one in the trash, i guess none of the components are of high enough quality to make them worth salvaging. you'de think they might actually save a few dollars in sending out new units if they would step up their build quality a little!

There's really no difference between the two other than the way they look and physical button configuration. Some people say the 500 series is worse than 600 for quality. I've heard good and bad stories for both remotes, overall I think they are about the same but have no statistics to prove which is better... I've heard as many or more bad stories about the Harmony 880. The 600 series is based on an older design and so is unable to replicate some high bit rate IR commands used for certain newer devices, like some PVRs. The 360 is basically a 500 series remote with the coloured xbox buttons.

You might want to save up and get the Harmony One, it's the best one out now.
