I've never done RF on a Harmony, only done two Harmonys
that clients already have. Now here's a 1000 that is
working thru an IR extender, and client would like RF
instead.
Can the RF extender be simply added or do you have to
tell the software it exists? Is this model's RF reliable?
Thank you!
Tom,
You have to set-up the RF extender via the Harmony software. Like KGossen said, the extender will need to be updated (via the software) every time that a change is made. That's the biggest PITA with Harmony. Even a simple change like adding a favorite channel icon, or changing the background on the touchscreen will require that the RF extender be updated. So you have to unplug the emitter cables, unplug the unit, and take both the remote and the RF extender to wherever your computer is so that you can update them via USB. After the update you have to go back, plug everything back in, and pray that the update works. I would suggest placing it in a very accessible spot. As for its reliability, I don't think it's any more or less reliable than anything else out there. JMO.
