I have both the Harmony 890 and Monster avl300. They work on the same software and each remote came with its own RF extender. I'm not using the RF extenders currently, but did at one time make an attempt to get the stick on red things to work with the extenders (no luck).
My question is…Since most of my equipment has IR inputs on the back I want to know if all I need to do is connect mini-to-mini from my components to the RF extender, thus avoiding the stick on red things.
If it is that simple do I use a mono-to-mono mini plug? Where's the best place to place the RF extender (somewhere visible or can it be hidden away).
Thanks

That's the whole point of RF - you can put it anywhere. Behind doors, in a closet, another room, etc. If the IR inputs really do accept a normal IR signal then it should work. I'd use a high quality stereo mini plug cable just to be safe.

Also - double check those IR inputs and make sure they're not IR Outputs. Some devices will relay the signals received by the device to hidden components. If that's the case you may not need the RF extender.

Thanks.
My receiver, blu-ray player and subwoofer EQ system are definitely IR inputs.
So I'd just initialize the RF extender and list it as the way I want to control the devices that are plugged into it, right.

Yes, then instead of using the emitters just use the mini plug cables directly into the device.

I used cables with mini plugs to connect the RF extender to a Denon receiver and ReQuest server last year and they work great.

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder." |
