I am considering the Harmony One. Here is a list of my equipment and my "Remote Wishlist. Can someone please check this out and let me know if the "One" can satisfy all these needs:

Equipment I have:

1- Onkyo AV Receiver Model #TX-SR605, w/Onkyo Remote Model #RC-682M, 1 year old

2- Samsung 57" LCD Television Model #LN-T5781F, 6 months old

3- Samsung Blu Ray DVD Player Model #BD-P2550, Brand new

4- Scientific Atlanta Cable Box Model # Explorer 8300 HD, 2 years old

5- JVC SVHS Video Recorder/Player Model #HR-S2902U, 8 years old

Here are the features I would like to have in this remote:

1- All Buttons are a good size and feel.

2- All buttons are lit up for easy night viewing.

3- Remote can operate all equipment (obviously)

4- Remote can operate not only basic on/off, pause, play, FF, REW, SEARCH, last channel, mute, but can also activate pull down menus like cable box recording menus, channel infomation, TV's screen sizing etc. I guess a remote that can operate most of the features that each individual remote does. Is this asking too much?

5- All units will automatically self adjust to proper inputs with as few buttons being pressed as possible.

6- Easy to program

7- My equipment is about 10 ft. directly in front of me

8- DVD Player and Receiver are out in the open. Cable Box and SVHS player are behind glass. Will I have a problem with activation behind glass?

Thanks for any help you could give me!

Don

I don't see anything in your list that the Harmony one can't do. That's a pretty simple setup. You'll create an activity for each device combination and when you select that activity the harmony will automatically turn devices on and off and select the proper inputs. It will also give you the ability to have different buttons control different devices (volume - receiver, channels - TV, etc.). It can do anything your OEM remotes can do - if the commands are not already in the database you can teach them very easily.

You can always to check if your components will work with Harmony remotes at this URL:

Slight correction - that tells you if your devices exist in the harmony database. Even if they don't exist you can still add them by teaching all of the commands from the OEM remotes. The only time it won't work is if you don't have the OEM remote, they're not in the harmony database and nobody has pronto hex codes available (they can be added by support).

Yes, even the video machine is in the database!
Do the present remotes control the devices behind the glass?
