Hi All,

I have looked through these posts regarding if there is some way to avoid updating the RF extender(s) every time you make a programming change to the 890 itself and have not found a way to do so. Is there really no way to bypass this step even in situations where you are clearly not going to change whatever programming is actually going to the Extenders (like when you simply rename an activity)?

Having to take apart the Extenders each time seems like an unnecessary process.

Thanks
Harold

I think you can just skip it. It was a long time ago but I think I posed this question to tech support at Harmony and they said to skip the step. If you're not changing anything on it then it shouldn't matter.

I read over at the Harmony forums that you can just plug in the remote when it asks for the RF extender first. It'll be smart enough to know the difference so it'll update the remote.

I was on the phone with an RF Tech from Harmony Canada this weekend and I mentioned this complaint about having to plug in both. I was told that yes it is an annoyance and they are working to have this changed but he recommended setting up a temp station for my RF repeater that has line of sight to my units while troubleshooting. The harmony charger uses the same power as the RF so unplug everything from the RF, move it by your notebook or charging station and begin programming.

Just my .02 :)
