I have two Samsung TVs, different models. Is there a way to change something so both tvs don't turn on and off at the same time? They are both somewhat close together. I guess I should have purchased a different brand for my secondary tv? Is my only option holding the remote close to the device I want to change?

Most TVs don't have alternate IR addresses. You could get a 890 with RF extender - it has the ability to send IR commands to a single device using an emitter attached to each TV. Another option, if one TV isn't used very often, is to cover the IR sensor and turn it on/off manually assuming you don't need to change volume or channels on that TV.

Another possibility would be to plug each of the sets into an IR controlled power switch. It would not be required to have a TV that "remembered" its ON/OFF status when powered down as you could send the IR command "On" following applying power to either TV.
