I'm helping a friend set up her 670 remote for her: Panasonic Plasma TV, Comcast 3416 DVR and a Yamaha Home Theater in a Box (DVX-C310). I've got it working pretty smoothly except for one hitch:

a) When you press anything that is associated with playing a DVD such as opening the drawer to put in a DVD or checking what's in there, the Yamaha automatically switches the audio input to the internal DVD input. For example, you are watching TV through the cable box and then decide to put in a DVD to watch later. As soon as you press the button to open the drawer, the audio turns to the DVD while the television continues to show the TV program.

b) The only workaround I've figured out is to recommend that my friend not touch any of the DVD buttons on the HTIB prior to wanting to watch a DVD until she has pressed the "Play Movie" button on the remote and switched everything over to DVD.

Any other ideas? I'd like to make this easier for her and her guests. I think a lot of people put their DVD into their player while continuing to watch television.

Thanks for any ideas.

Nothing you can do if the HTIB does it automatically. She'll have to wait and put the DVD in when she's ready to watch it, or switch it back to TV manually.
