Hi all,
I have a new HT setup and am considering the Harmony One.

I have a DirecTV HD DVR (HR22NC). I am curious as to how well the Harmony One controls the unit. I am most interested in how well the buttons work for pausing live TV, using the 30 second skip, and viewing your recorded show list.

Are these functions accomplished by physical buttons on the remote or do you have to drill down in a menu on the touch display? Does it work well?

Any usability reviews on this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

There are no drill down menus - you get the hard buttons and a list of commands on the LCD. You can scroll through the LCD if there are more then one page of commands.

Everything works fine except the commands that require you to hold a button (slow, skip to hash mark, skip to end or beginning). I haven't tried fixing that by playing with the delays and repeats or having support change the duration - I just don't use the skip and slow functions. You also have to map at least some of the 4 colored buttons to the LCD but it works fine.

You should be able to have all the transport buttons (skip, FF, RW, Pause, etc) map to the hard buttons just fine. For the "list" that can be one the first page of the LCD screen for that device.

The One has spare hard buttons that can be used for the colour commands.

Depends on how many hard buttons you're already using. I did map Red to the lower left button on the keypad (forgot the symbol) for deleting shows and I could use the up and down buttons. But there aren't enough spare hard buttons for List and all the colors.

Yes, it all depends!
Mine are on the spare up/down toggle and on the adjacent Menu and Info buttons, as their functions are used much less and have gone to other buttons.
