Hi there,

I am fairly new to all this, I am thinking of purchasing the Harmony 880 and just wondering I have rogers Digital Cable box, on the remote that is currently with the cable box, i can press guide and it shows up the guide on the screen and I am able to scroll through the guide, now I guess my question is this, once the harmony is set up, will I be able to use the guide with the Harmony 880 and be able to scroll it as I currently do with the remote from the cable box.

Any information would be helpful, thanking you all in advance..

Gus

Anything you can do from the IR cable remote you can do from any Harmony. In addition the Harmony may give you access to features that the oem cable remote doesn't have.

Harmony has a centralized database with the IR commands for each device. In some cases the device (tv e.g.) supports commands that were not designed into the remote control. If for some reason one of the oem remote buttons are not available via the harmony database - or if you have an odd device that may not be in the database at all - then you can teach the harmony the commands you need from the OEM remote.

The only way a harmony wouldn't work is if the device is RF or if the device isn't in the harmony database and you don't have the OEM remote.

Both my Harmony remotes (659 & 680) work fine with my Rogers digital cable box HDPVR (SA8300HD).
