Hello all. I've been experiencing problems with my 885 regarding having to press the buttons far harder than I have to to get the desired effect. This is the third unit that I've had this problem with.

Whilst my latest one is still usable, it's becoming annoying in that I sometimes have to press the dodgy buttons several times before they do what they are meant to. I've sent another email to Logitech asking for a replacement, but I'm not sure if I'll get one as I got the first one nearly two years ago and cannot remember if the warranty is for one or two years.

I was wondering, if I can't get a replacement and have to eventually purchase a Harmony 1, can I still download my settings onto the 1, or will I have to start from scratch. Not only the devices, but also button settings etc.

From what I have read here, the button problem with the 885 is not uncommon. It's a real shame because functionality wise, it's a great remote. The build quality is pretty shabby though.

From those of you that have the Harmony 1, has the build quality improved any, and have you found any issues with the touch screen? I've never used a touch screen device before and am intrigued as to how effective or otherwise the one on the 1 is.

You can transfer your settings from your old remote to the new one. You should only need to change some incompatible button mappings, if that.

The touch screen on the one is great - requires a very light touch and is very responsive. My only problem is that it's hard for me to tell exactly which button I'm pressing if I'm holding the remote out in front of me. The One seems to be built very well and there are NO issues with the charging cradle - it's very solid.

I do seem to be having a slight issue with the skip forward button - it works fine but feels like it's rubbing something just slightly. But so far it works great, and I've had both a 659 and a 720.

The One's screen looks pretty, and it's OK for selecting Activities as they have large "icons", slightly less OK for selecting favourite channels with smaller "icons", and pretty useless for anything else.

I dont find it useless, I just have to hold the remote at more of a 90 degree angle to ensure I'm hitting the right button when in activity or device mode. Slight inconvenience, nothing more.

My wording was misleading - sorry about that - I've removed it now.
I find the screen useless except for Activities and Favourites because you have to look at it, compared to finding the hard keys by touch, and the locations of its virtual buttons are imprecise.

Thanks for the input guys. Most helpful. Good to know that they appear to have improved the build quality somewhat with the Harmony One.

Yes, the One's buttons are a total improvement over the 500 series, and the base the same over the 800.
