Hello everyone,

Hopefully someone can give me a hand here.

Basically, here is what I want to do:

Be able to use my Harmony 1000 to control a Kingsman HBZDV3624 direct-vented fireplace.

I've been looking to purchase a remote control package (Remote control transmitter along with the receiver that connects directly to the millivolt valve)

See here for an example:
[Link: ambienttechnologies.com]

This is one model that the builder of my house recommended me to get, however it appears it is not compatible with the Harmony 1000 (even if I have the wireless extender).

Can anyone propose any solutions that require a basic hookup to the millivolt valve, that I could probably do on my own?

Sounds like a job for X10. First you need to find out what type of inputs the millivolt valve expects (on/off/variable, 5V, 12V, 24V, etc.) and then see if you can find a compatible X10 controller. Then use the IR543 to control it via IR from any remote.

I suggest you search for something along the lines to what you linked to, but however it obviously needs to be IR based. Whether or not they make them...I don't know. What I can tell you is the prospect of using a X10 module & IR543 would be considerably more costly. X10 isn't all that reliable to begin with.

edit:

Try searching through www.xantech.com. They manufacture many IR contact closure options.

....Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
