I haven't had to update my remote in a long time, and when I went to Logitech to tweak my code, I find that they have a new download app that handles the interface between Logitech and the 768. All seems well, but I can't customize buttons and the software app hosed the configuration that I had and now I'm stuck with a working, but far less usable remote. Logitech Support seems to be ignoring my emails for help. Is anyone out there still using a 768 and does the software from Logitech work? Has anyone gotten support from Logitech for their 768 in recent history?

Why can't you customize the buttons? Are you trying to do this through the Activities tab or the Device tab?

I have the 768 and had to program it last week for some new gear. It seemed to be OK, although the channel guide is long gone up here in Canada. What exactly isn't programming for you?

Maybe caused by the new Software release (v7.5) problem. See: [Link: remotecentral.com]

If I try and change the remote using the Activities tab and selecting "Customize Buttons" I get a screen that says "Unable to Display Content" and then a "Next" button. If I try to customize buttons through the device tab, it seems to work correctly in the program, but the buttons are never updated in the remote. It did this with both the 7.4.3 software and the 7.5.0 version as well. That's why I thought it was something to do with the age of my remote.

Well, after spending nearly an hour on the phone with Customer Support, they found the problem. Since I have an older 768 (nearly eight years old), and that I hadn't had to update it for nearly two years, I was using the wrong software. Turns out that when I went to the Logitech web page, and it asked me to enter the operating system and model number of my remote, it directed me to download the 7.5.0 software, when it SHOULD have told me to download the 4.0 software. Because of the incompatibility of the 7.5.0 for the older remotes, it was the source of the problem. Now I have to wait until they either fix the 7.5.0, to make it work with my 768, or, wait until the web page is fixed and allows me to download the older 4.0 software. Now I have to wait a few more days for the problems to be corrected. You would think that they could at least direct me to an FTP site where I could find the older software, but no, they hadn't a clue on where I could get and suggested I contact a "friend" who might have it. Some support.
