Not much to set up - add your devices, setup activities and see how it works. Make sure each activity turns on the proper devices and selects the right input, then focus on the button mappings for each activity. You want to stay in activity mode and only use Device mode once in a while or for troubleshooting. Map frequently used commands to the activity button.

If a device seems to miss commands sometimes (power or input commands especially) try increasing the inter-device delay. Otherwise the default settings are usually correct.

Having recently purchased a Harmony 550 and also being a Dish Net VIP-722 user, I can tell you that if you've never used a Harmony product before there are a few things to consider. Most of your remotes main functions will do what you expect, the volume buttons will control the source for your amplification, however, there is an important button missing from the default setup - the DVR button. If you use this button to access your recordings and schedule, you'll definitely want to add this otherwise it will be cumbersome getting to your recordings.

Once you create the activity, carefully review all the button assignments to ensure you have all the controls for this activity that you want. You may need some additional TV or sound controls that aren't part of the default setup.

It may take a few times going back and fine tuning it, but I'm sure everyone will tell you this is normal. It's flexible so that's what makes it so great. It just doesn't know how each individual has their systems set up for their own enjoyment and uses.

If it's present in Devices, as it should be, you can Customise it in any Activity to a spare hard button on the One, or to a virtual button on the screen if necessary.

I'm using the One with a 622. Using Sequence to set up custom buttons I have one labeled List that sends the DVR signal twice. I'm lazy. I also have one labeled Cskip that sends the 30 second Quick Skip 4 times. Helps get through commercials.

Great idea Myron! Being a novice, I hadn't gotten around to creating sequences yet. The 30 second skip button is nice, but sometimes I'm pressing it a bunch of times to get through the commercial breaks.

Thanks, Bill
