ok heres the problem. my tv is set to ch 3 for my cable box, and the tv never gets the channel changed since i use the cable box to change the channels. i set up this info in harmony software, but when i turn the tv and cable box on with the harmony one it acts like this. the cable box first turns on and then the tv turns on. since the tv is already on ch 3, you get to see about 1 second of the program (show). then the harmony one tunes the tv to ch 3 and you actually loose the program (show) for about 1 second, the screen turns black while the ch 3 is entered. i was wondering since the tv is always on ch 3 why does the remote want to change it to ch 3, thats why i get a black screen for a second. any help? or any fix?

It's probably set to go to Ch 3 as part of the activity (start on channel). Turn it off.

As in the other forum, is this a channel, or is it an input?

Well if his TV needs to be an Channel 3 to use his cable box the the OP is only using a coax connection between his TV and his cable box

i guess what i trying to say is that when the tv and cable box powers up, the channel does not need to be changed. what i want this to do is when i power the tv and cable box up, the tv needs to say on the the default channel (channel 3). the harmony program does not allow this that i can find.

Also the software always tries to set an input, but not a channel.

The software does not normally require a channel to be set, but see #2 from akirby. Try reviewing the settings for the Activity to see if there is anything that does set the channel to 3.

Try setting up the Activity again, this time selecting a different option when you're asked "how is the cable box hooked up".

Did you check all of the options under the Watch TV activity? I'm assuming the software simply uses the "start on channel" feature based on the activity setup questions and if so you can change it there. If not, then rerun the activity setup and give it a different (bogus) input.

This one has now been answered in another forum. It appears there's a crazy feature in the Logi software that makes you select a channel if you set a certain type of input. The solution then is to change the name of the input from Cable or Tuner to C able or T uner. The software then doesn't "know" that it's the type of input and doesn't ask for the channel.

that works, thanks hhatkin. alot of trouble for a software oversight.
