I added a new activity (play mp3's on reciever) recently to my Harmony 520. For some reason, it messed with my TV settings and now when I try to adjust channels it repeats too many times - ie. for every time I hit the channel up/down button, it will go twice.

The repeats are set to zero, and I've gone as high as 10,000ms for the inter-key delay and it's still doing it (no difference regardless of setting). I'm also pressing/releasing the button as fast as possible. I remember having problems with this when I first set the remote up, but can't recall what setting change solved the issue.

What other settings are there that would affect this?

Thanks for any help!

Reducing the number of repeats (now nameless) under "Troubleshoot > TV responds to some commands either too many times or only occasionally" should have cure this problem. Something is toasted. Try deleting then re-adding the TV device, or call support.

That's where I've changed it to zero repeats already and it didn't help. I know I figured out a way around it before - I'll have to rack my brain on this one to think of what I did. I'd prefer not to delete the device as I don't really want to redo all the custom settings on it (I haven't touched the settings in well over a year and have no idea what I had everything at). But.... if it comes down to it, I guess I will have to.

Just realized that it wiped out ALL my custom TV commands anyways so I will be redoing everything from scratch... how did I know I should have just left the thing alone. Not very pleased with harmony's software at the moment...

Thus the importance of documenting your configuration settings:
o Take screen snapshots - for the Client Software or Website interface.
o Browser Save pages as - for the Website interface.

Better not to delete the old one - add a fresh one and keep both.

Screen shots are a good idea, but a royal pain with how the site works. There really should be an option to download your settings or at least print off a summary page.

The site said it had updates for my TV, which I ignored, but finally updated thinking maybe it will fix the problem - this is what screwed everything up with my settings. It took the original TV out of all my activities and replaced it with TV2... which didn't work as it eliminated one of my antenna inputs, and all the custom commands (which is said it would transfer). To get TV back in, I had to delete TV2 and re-add TV to my various activities.

The good news is I got it working normal again. I remembered that last time I simply learned the commands directly from my original remote so I just did that and it is fine again. I'm still confused as to how this got modified in the first place when I was adding an activity that had nothing to do with the TV, but all is well again.

Thanks for the help guys!

It was probably caused by software cobwebs (aka composting). The Harmony software is buggy (like any software), so maybe a PC reboot may remove the cobwebs (like it does with other PC softwares).
