Hello,

I have a Sony DHG-HDD250 DVR and a Sony DHG-HDD500 DVR. They both use the same remote & do not appear to have discrete On/Off based on model.

I want to be able to use my Harmony 880 to only control 1 at a time.

How can I do this?
Are there IR repeater's/controllers/blasters?
Do I have to put a book in front of the IR receiver I do not want to use?

Thanks!

If neither device support an alternate IR address mode, then you need the 890 with its device addressable extender ports. With the 880, the best you can do is leave one device on and the other off. Then use use the PowerToggle command (mapped to a key in your activity) to select which device to control. You should also change the Adjust power settings of both devices to use the toggle method (One button on the remote for turning it both On and Off), else both units will turn On or Off at the same time with the default discrete powering method.

Thank you!
I am trying to find more info on the device addressable extender ports, but do not see much on the logitech site. Is this a seperate device like the $99 RF extender?

Are you sure those don't support multiple remote addresses? Check the owner's manual - I'd be really surprised if they don't. If they do just set them up so the OEM remotes operate one each and then do the confirm IR commands from the device menu for each one and you're all set.

I just scanned the ([Link: 129.33.22.12]) operating instructions manual, and as Akirby suspected, these devices support 2 IR addresses. The instructions to change the IR code are on page 36 (Using the Preferences Menu > Remote Control Code). Decide which one to change, then follow Akirby's instructions above.

PS: It's the 890 Pro user manual that mentions the RF Wireless Extender can have its ports addressed to allows a single port on an extender to control a device independently from the other ports. This allows multiple identical devices to be controlled independently. However, the 890 manual does not mention this capability. You can download the 890 and 890 Pro user manuals from these sites:
