My dad is looking to get a UR for his new house and has someone willing to sell him the Harmony 1000 for $200. He thinks it would be easier for my mom to use, because the touch screen will basically guide her through everything.

Personally, I can't stand touch screen remotes and told him that for the same price, he'd be much happier with the Harmony One. It will still have the color screen to walk the user through use, so my mom would still be able to figure it out, but it would be much more usable for someone that's familiar with it.

So, not having used either of these remotes, which one should I tell him to get?

Harmony One. It's more like a traditional remote, and it's only $20 more.
