I bought an H659 about 2 weeks ago. ($80 at Sam's Club). It's been great and I am thinking about getting another one as I basically just walk around my house with the H659 remote now. I have actually more than 15 devices so I could use another one, maybe one for upstairs and one for downstairs. If I get a new remote, can I easily use the software to duplicate devices and activities from one remote to another remote? I don't want to replace a remote, but just have two remotes with many overlapping activities and devices. Can you just copy devices and and activities over from one active Harmony remote account to another? I was thinking of getting the 550 or the 670 off of Amazon for about $80 as a second remote.

Any thoughts?

You can't do this yourself (no way to work with multiple accounts at the same time), but you could contact customer support to see if they could do it.

Create a new account for the second remote and call support - they'll copy your configuration from the old account to the new account.

Doesn't the software detect if you connect a new remote, and ask if you want to transfer your existing setup?

Yes, but that only works if you're replacing a remote since with one account you only get one configuration.

If you want to use 2 remotes at the same time (and have them be slightly different) then you need 2 accounts.

I suppose if they were the same model and you wanted the exact same configuration on both of them then you can just use one account and update both remotes. But I would think you'd want to use separate configurations.
