Hi,

So, I just bought a new 50" Panasonic plasma TV - model TH-50PZ800U. I tried to configure it with harmony's website but this TV is not there in their database. What should I do now? I would really hate to make it learn every button code manually.

Have you gone through the process of letting the software check a selection of commands from the original remote, and if so hasn't it been able to find a suitable alternative model?

Unfortunately not. This particular TV is being sold in Best Buy and Circuit City for last few weeks. Why would such a main-stream device not be supported directly?

Because there are so many world wide variations. It is supported ,just not on the database with that model number. Most devices are put there by users, so you could help the people that follow you by setting it up. You dont have to learn every command just 3 or 4.

Alternatively, just try a similar model/size variation, the Panny's are pretty much the same. Then if any commands are missing you can add them.

You may not even need to learn any command. It will ask you to send a few commands to see if it can find a brand dataset for it. Most brand use the same dataset for many models. Else, you will have the privilege of creating a brand new entry. If you do, please do a good job.

Why are they expecting users to populate their database? Shouldn't they be working with the manufactures to keep their database up-to-date???

I mean I didn't pay $300 to a company so I can work for them!!

They do both and users are part of their business model. Your other option is to wait a few days until someone more industrious enters your model number.
