To argue the point, we would need some factual information.
Obviously it would wrong to say that Harmonys are only
good for A/V components; many are used for heating, lighting,
air-conditioning, things of that kind.
This is why this thread has gone on for so long. People hang on to every individual word that is written and can't seem to grasp the concept that the writer agrees with you....only not in so many words.
Yes. Harmony's can control things other than A/V components. I should have said that before. Sorry.
So, the information we need is what else constitutes a
Living Environment.
Basically, anything that a Harmony can't do.
What else do people want/need/require?
When someone rings my doorbell, my Crestron system automatically mutes & pauses whatever I may be listening to or watching (music, movie, TV, etc.), the security camera over the front door streams the video to my touchpanel (with the ability to transfer the image to any of the touchpanels throughout my house). I can then communicate with the person at the front door and let them in if I choose to do so. You can't do this with a Harmony. Do I need it? No. Do I require it? No. Do I want it? Yes. And that is all that matters in the end.
And before anyone thinks that I'm a Harmony-Hater....I actually own 2 Harmony 1000's and I love them. They are both used on recent extensions (kids rooms).
