First off, let me just say the harmony one has been the best remote ive had in a long time. My first logitech experience was with the 360 remote and the terrible software back in the day, but to my surprised logitech has really stepped their game up since. In an hours time, spanned 2 days so far, ive setup everything just like i wanted it with no hassles including adding fav icons thanks to "SquareEyes" but now i wanna customize my own theme. The included 3 themes kinda suck and their color combinations arent too snazzy. Ive been digging around my computer files, program files, documents and settings hidden files in search for any of the themes resources.. to no avail. So im assuming the files are being pulled off logitechs servers. If thats the case, then how can we intercept the theme files when being downloaded?? EDIT2: Theres cache files in the /browser - logitech/ folder hidden in the doc settings folder of your user name, and i assume alot of that information is in these cache files.. but how to extract that from the cache files is what im curious about EDIT3: ive managed to find an app called mozillacacheview. I used that to open and browse the cache folder and i see tons of goodies i can extract and play with. Im tinkering now to see what i can do. EDIT4: well thats a dead end. the cache files ended up being the user interface only. Nothing worth of value to use. So i still need some method to intercept the files being downloaded, then flashed onto the remote. I'm open for ideas.

And well worth flashing! You learned the hard way what you guessed right to start with - it's all at Logi, not on the user's computer. Some technical whizz may know how to get into the Harmony, but is the tiny screen worth the hassle? If it is then I suppose being able to personalise Activity icons would also be an advantage.

Everything gets built into that file that you download and flash to the remote. So you would need to save that file, and then inspect it.

So you would need to save that file Quite so - that's the point - but how? It passes straight through the computer down the USB to the remote.

remove the association between the application (the harmony client software) and the file extension. I think the extension is .EzHex. The web browser should then ask if you want to SAVE or OPEN the file with an application.
I would select SAVE

The "Update.EZHex" file is downloaded to your temp folder when you update your remote. Just make a copy of it before it gets auto deleted. On my Window XP Home Edition, the file is downloaded to this path: "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp".

OK, so skipping over how you edit it, how do you get it back into the remote? :-)

Just double click the "Update.EZHex" file.

There are many temp folders on the main drive (C). Do a "Search" for the .EZHex file on at least the main drive.

Immediately after a download an advanced search produces no .EZXhex file.

It used to with the website interface, but I currently can't access my configuration with the website interface (vicious time-out circle). So I tried the Client Software interface. It works but it does not create an .EZHex file in my temp folder. Maybe this feature is now gone.

Ok, the website interface is working again and it still creates the Update.EZHex file (along with the Connectivity.EZHex file) in my temp folder. However, the Client Software does not. So it seems only the website interface creates EZHex files in the temp folder.
