Folks,

I have a strange one for you and I need some help. I have a technics SA GX390, a Direct TV HR20 HD DVR and a Hitachi 50VS69A TV. I have a problem where my volume control on my Harmony 670 remote will not work at all. What is strange is that the original Technics remote will not control the volume either. Also the HR20 remote will not control the volume either. This is a problem that only happens once in a while. All of the remotes have at one time adjusted the volume on the receiver, I mute the TV speakers so I can use surround sound. The strange thing is that the original Technics remote will not control the volume when this issue pops up. All other buttons on all of the remotes work fine, it seems that the IR code on the receiver is not getting the signal. This is just very weird and frustrating for me, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Doug

Faulty IR sensor on the Technics receiver or IR interference/jamming from a nearby source (like from compact fluorescent lights, LCD/Plasmas displays, etc.).

I fixed it. There is a test / reset button on the front of the Technics receiver. I pressed that and all was right with the world. I should have known because the original technics remote would not control the volume. I need to learn more about that test/reset button. Thanks for the help.
