I just bought the 890 to replace my broke MX800 and thought I did my buying homework but now I"m not so sure. The configuration software is difficult for me, I know what I want to do but it feels like it's always trying to "guide" or direct me some way. I've been hunting through the menus after choosing "Settings" for the device trying to find what I'm looking for. For example, I want to change the top buttons for my receiver, both how they're labeled and what order. So far, no luck.

Is it just me or is this by design? I'm trying to set up the new remote as close to the old one for an easier transition. I got frustrated and put it away for now - Any suggestions?

Have you read the online Manual?
In both Activities and Devices you have options to "customise buttons" any way you want them.
