Hi, I have a harmony one and would like to purchase this:

[Link: maplin.co.uk]

Thing is would I be able to do this either by finding it in the online database or by setting it up through the software. Sorry if I'm not making any sense I'm new to all of this.

If you have a One that will learn - and some find it difficult or impossible - you should be able to "learn" it from this device' s original remote.

The Maplin L63AB device is already in the database as per the new Harmony Database Checker site: [Link: logitech.com]
You would add the device as an "Audio/Video Switch" under the "Amplifier" type.
Note: All Harmony models are learning remotes. That is how devices are added to the database.

By "If you have a One that will learn" I meant of course one that actually works as it is meant to,
as opposed to some that many people have reported as being "difficult or impossible" to learn.

A defective remote should be returned ASAP. Many stores have a 30 days return policy.

You mean those that are "difficult to impossible to learn"?
Mine was impossible; I returned it; the replacement was impossible, though luckily I don't need it to!

Did you have learning difficulties with only some (but not all) IR commands from some (but not all) devices?

No, the Harmony One has hardware defects with its IR learning port (apparently hardware as they haven't fixed it via software) . Check the harmony remote forums under hadware and you'll see discussion on the topic. I just got mine to work by holding it in a very specific way, in a very shielded area but was about to return it as I had tried everything I could think of.

That applies to SOME of them, not to THE Harmony One in general.
